Lily's Room Part One

We did it!!!  Thanks to some very sweet, very generous friends, Lily's room is finished and photographed.  Brochures for Market are at the printer.  What a whirlwind!  

Cindy Luby covered the chair for me.  She does beautiful work, as you can see. 

Lily is a voracious reader, so she is THRILLED about her cozy chair.

For the panels, I literally taped the fabric onto the wall (Shelley Detton came up with that solution) and nailed the moldings on.  Since we are renting, this is a perfect way to cover the walls.  All I have to do is remove a few nails and down it comes.

More to come in a few days.  Market is right around the corner.  If you are coming, I'll be doing a schoolhouse Friday about using quilting fabric for home decor. 

Ready, Set, Sew!

I had the funnest day today!  Pam Matthews (from Del Ray Fabrics), Cindy Luby, and Katie Blakesly came by to help me sew for Market.  Lily's bedroom has already been a huge undertaking.  I have been laying awake at night for weeks planning and replanning.  I've been painting furniture, buying stuff on Craigslist, and testing my skills at Home Depot.  And now, thanks to these SWEET ladies, it is finally coming together!  

Project #1--the chair.  I found this at Ikea in the As Is section.  It had a hole in the front, but since I was going to cover it, that was no biggy.  It was like 50% off. Woo hoo!  Cindy has already jumped in and just sent me this pic:  

Oh boy.  Oh boy.  Just the coushion to go.  I'd better get to work on that foot stool.

Luke's Alosopy

 

The other morning Luke was being naughty, so I called him over in my sternist mommy voice.  He knew he was in for it.  He came over, flashed his adoable smile and burst into song.  It was the first time I'd heard him sing "Hakuna Matata" and he was so cute.  I cheered for him and he scampered off.   It was then that I realized I'd been had.  I let him go.  I think I'd rather be sung to than dish out a time out anyway.  

My stomach is in knots.  I am anxiously awaiting my first yardage for my new line, "Garden Wall." Where are you Fedex guy?!?!?!  They said by 3pm so hopefully it will be here soon.  I have some SERIOUS sewing to do with Market in 9 days!!!  

It's here!! I mean it.  Not making this up for dramatic effect.  Bye bye!!

Crazy Hair Day

First Pajama Day, then Crazy Hair Day. I love this school! We can just climb out of bed and come as we are.  

Cute things the boys are saying these days:

Luke says, "guess up" Instead of guess what.  And "denember" for remember.  

When Grant even senses a scolding coming his way, he starts with a stream of statements to disarm the scolder:  "I sawee.  I be nice.  I love you."  Actually, he usually says I love you in his and Luke's version of Spanish, "Te Kedo."

 

Baby Bailey

I cannot get over this picture of my wee baby nephew.  It's killing me to have full rights (as his aunt) to nuzzle that little neck and nibble those tiny toes, but to be to far away to do it.
