Here's my latest painting. I'm really enjoying doing BIG flowers right now. Just a little Georgia O'Keeffe flavor to them.
A few great O'keeffe quotes:
"I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore its beauty. "
"I hate flowers - I paint them because they're cheaper than models and they don't move."
That last quote cracks me up. Well, I don't hate flowers (I love them!) but I do do appreciate the accessibility of flowers. And I love that I can paint them any color I want and do whatever I want with the composition--add a petal or a leaf or whatever. They're a great vehicle for me to play with color and texture. AND I love what a giant flower does for a room--just lights it up.
I had some fun with my young friend Elizabeth (and her friend too). We did a little sewing class in my home using the infinity scarf pattern. I picked up some drapey knit on clearance and got them started. Each scarf ended up costing about $1.50! So they can make a bunch for their friends for Christmas. Aren't they cute??
