I found these shoes in China Town, NYC last year. Hand crocheted. Fabulous. I thought, someone with great taste will have a baby girl someday. Trenna came through. Well, baby girl isn't here yet, but will be soon.
Shoes like that need a great outfit. So I made a little skirt with a vintage hand embroidered linen as a little apron. Really simple to make. It's just a few rectangles sewn into a tube and the apron sewn in with the casing. I love these little skirts because I can use my favorite quarter yard pieces. So little fabric needed.
As you can see, Trenna was pretty excited about the skirt.
So Patti P. was like, "I gotta make one of those!" Well, it just so happens that this vintage table cloth had two more corners AND it just so happens that Patti has a birthday coming up AND it just so happens that I remembered that she has a birthday coming up. (I remember birthdays about once every three years. Don't you wanna be my friend?)
So I built her gift around that corner-of-vintage-table-cloth. Of course, I was FORCED to do some fabric shopping. (Had to pick up a few things for myself while I was there.)
