Ahhhh. There's nothing like being begged to do something you already want to do. So validating. Now, will you all beg me to clean my house today. I'm begging you ;-) Well, without further ado, here's a much sought after, pleaded for, craft from Lily's party, with more to come. (maybe)
I have a sweet childhood memory of a little Christmas tree that we'd put in our Barbie house at Christmas time. Oh, tininess. Why is everything so cute when it's tiny??? I swear I would ooh and awe over a tiny garbage can full of tiny garbage or a tiny sink full of tiny dirty dishes. So, needless to say, a tiny Christmas tree was a delicacy to my childhood imagination.
Lily has never been as interested in Barbies as we were, but Polly Pocket and Littlest Pet Shop have been quite popular. Now, this is terrific because they will require an even tinier Christmas tree, increasing its mysterious cute tininess powers!
I had my work cut out for me. I purchased these tiny trees at Hobby Lobby in the doll section, thinking they'd be a perfect craft for Lily's party. We painted them with Mod Podge and rolled them in glitter. then we used tacky glue to attach the sequins ornaments. We also used tacky glue to attach the teeny tiny presents (also from the doll section at Hobby Lobby.)
I did this with 7 and 8 year old girls, but it was so simple I'd even do it with littler kids. If the glitter mess scares you you can drop that part.

Did you know you can bleach and then dye those trees? I have a tutorial up on my blog (see the right sidebar), but it's really easy to do.
I bookmarked your button dying instructions because it's the one thing I haven't tried to dye yet!

Oh, the glitter part doesn't scare me at all. It wouldn't be the same without it. Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to show my daughter. She's enchanted with 'tiny', too.

So odd and funny--parties, miniature love--it's all going on in my life these days as well.
The tiny trees are brilliant! I would make them on my own even if I didn't have three girls who will readily line up for a dusting of glitter at the drop of a hat. Thanks for a great idea!

They just wouldn't be the same without the glitter! We are a glitter-friendly family and I think we might have to do some miniture Christmas trees--too cute. Thanks for sharing.
I too remember having to have all the miniture stuff for my barbie's. And my daughter (9yrs old) isn't all that interested in barbies either. What's with that?? My cousins and I would spend HOURS playing with our barbies.

Dear Laura, my name is Afifa and I had the pleasure of meeting your husband in a language class (Dari). As he was proudly telling me about your fabric design, he shared your website with me. I waited to have a "peaceful" day to enjoy it, and here we are, I love your designs and your home decoration, I always admire ceativity, I wish that I had some. Also, David mentioned to get together at your home, I would love to meet you and your adorable children. I think if we waited until after the first of the year, our lives will not be as crazy and will enjoy eachothers company without worring about our up coming tasks. For now, I wish you and your beautiful famil many many many happy moments in this Season of Joy!
Regards,
Afifa
P.S. I searched for just "contact" to write this note and send it to you, but could not find it, so I chose "comments", hope it is okay!
