After a While Crocodile

Wow, do I have a slow computer!  But lucky me, we're making the switch to mac in a few weeks.  I tried for months to talk Dave into switching over( I confess I was completely brain washed by those cool commercials).  In the end a trip to the mac store did the trick.  I think the "garage band" software was the main selling point.  Now I can look forward to endless hours of Dave rockin' out.  Meanwhile, I'm going to take a wee break from the blogosphere.  Just until I get back from AZ (10 days with the amazing Heather Bailey) and get my new computer up and running.  tootle-loo til' then.

Taking Over

My mom calls it, "the slow encroachment."  Gradually my studio is finding it's way into other parts of the house.  My guest room is now a mini gallery of my work (The wall is the safest place for my paintings). And since my studio has become bit claustrophobic with all the painting I'm doing, my mom and I moved my sewing stuff in the guest room too.  Is my hubby OK with this?  Truth be told it took him 3 days to notice!  At any rate, I calculate that I should have the entire house transformed into a giant studio within 3 years.

We've been a bit crazy here.  I just posted a few paintings on Etsy.  And here's something fun: Apartment Terapy is doing a tour of my nursery today.  It should be up this afternoon.

Well, toodles.  I'm going to check if my stamping supplies will fit in the dining room hutch.

Oh the Places I'll Paint

L1010514_2 I just can't get enough of the Calla Lilies this year.  Ooh la la.  This one was a happy birthday from me and Evie to the amazing Bonnie Martin (a great friend, and, I've recently been informed, the real source of the Fish Taco recipe).  Bonnie is empty nesting it (her gaggle of grandkids might not call it that) and doing some redecorating.  I definitely want photos of the painting in place.

My little Lily scolded me today for getting paint on her baby brother's feet.  What can I say, sometimes it's tricky painting with a 3 month old.  She told me I should call my blog "Paint on My Feet."  Which leads to many other names I could've chosen: Paint On the Cups, Paint on My Chair, Paint in My Bathtub, Paint on My glasses.  When Maureen came to visit I realized that every single cup I owned had paint in it.  She helped me pick out some new ones (plastic, I don't do glass), and Dave made me swear not to use them to clean my brushes.  Sometimes he just asks too much :>)

Now this has absolutely nothing to do with what I just wrote, but I have to share this little ditty from You-tube.  I'm still giggling over it. Lily just loves Mary Poppins, but I don't think I'll show her this.

Two birds with One Mom

L1010406 L1010409

What fun, what fun.  I had the loveliest visit with my mom last week.  It'll take me a few entries to get caught up on all the cool stuff we did (a nursery makeover, a creative show and tell with some friends, a hunt for a quilt shop, and 2 skirts).  I thought I'd start with this sweet little skirt my mom made for Lily.  Oh boy, was it fun to watch unfold.  The rick rack, the applique, the ruffles.  Lily was literally jumping up and down when the finished skirts emerged.  As if that weren't enough, she made a matching belt and purse.  Thanks mom!

The little bird applique was my favorite part.  So here's a little tutorial so you can share in the fun!

Here We Go........

So I thought it was time for an upgrade on the blog.  What do you think?  Typepad is a lot more fun to work with, though I'm still baffled by some things.  (Like how do I get into my template to tinker with it??)  But I finally decided to just plunge ahead, warts and all.  I can always improve it as I go along.  Who knows, in a few weeks it may be an entirely different blog.

Check out the my new website too.  That's right, I've been a busy bee.  To tell the truth, sitting at the computer this much puts me in a fog.  I'm dying to pick up a paint brush and work out some ideas that have been rattling around in my head.  But first, I'm off to the pool with some friends.  Ahhhh good for the soul.

About the pics:  My mom and I picked up some great vintage repro fabrics at a local quilt shop (and Amy Butler's pattern book was just too pretty to pass up).  We were on the hunt for a great shop.  More on that later.  Next I'll post the yummy little skirts my mom made with the fabric above.  Ooooooo enjoy the anticipation.

P.S.  Dave took these pictures.  He's getting good, eh??

Welcome....
